For some of us, a safe space is in the isolation of our minds. For some of us it's in the company of eight friends. For others it's in the company of a pet. It's where we're allowed to be ourselves. It's where taking up space doesn't seem so wrong. It's where 'comfort' lays down in a cozy bed, and where 'pain' is not afraid to lay with it. These spaces might be lonely, lively, incapable of conversation, sometimes dumb. And yet it's where you go to 'be'. To be yourself unapologetically. Our safe spaces are our homes away from home, when home doesn't feel like one. They're personal and they're unexplainable. And that's okay. You never need to explain them to anyone. All you need is to be able to feel safe somewhere.
