Gulalotsav - Faces As the season of Holi approaches, it brings festivals around the state of Goa. The most busy places during the festivity season are the hinterlands of Goa. The temples around are flocked with devotees during the festivals. One such famous festival which happens to be a part of Holi in Goa is the Gulalotsav festival. Goa celebrates Gulalotsav / Gulal as a part of Shigmotsav festivities at Shri Damodar Temple at Zambaulim. Gulal is celebrated as a part of the Shigmo festival of Goa, celebrated in the month of Phalgun (March-April) at Shri Damodar Temple of Zambaulim. The festival is packed with audience of devotees for seven days. More important days during the celebrations are Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. Tuesday being the main day of the festival, people from various areas around Goa also attend the temple premises, when a mammoth crowd visits the temple. A palki (palanquin) with an idol of Lord Damodar is taken out in procession in the evening and people en route throw gulal on the idol. Those carrying the palki and devotees get covered with gulal and it is considered auspicious to get smeared with gulal on this occasion. ----- Original Size - 5333 x 8000 pixels / 19 mb Resolution - 300 dpi Format - Jpg
