Your Hell is Someone's Heaven
Yesterday, I saw something that left me a little more grateful towards life.
This was outside the hotel that was staying in, at Vadodara, where I saw two homeless kids who had found a half empty packaged drinking water bottle. They saw it from a distance and both came running towards it. They pushed each other around for a while to decide who would drink from it first. And while one was drinking, the other was eagerly looking at him, waiting for his turn. And there I was, standing there, looking at them, thinking about the multiple water bottles that were there in my hotel room, thinking about the uncountable such bottles that I had used up in that last few days of staying there.
I stood there for some time, just staring at them and then I took out my phone and clicked a picture. It is the same picture that I referenced to draw this piece.
Interestingly I could also see the happiness that they were able to find in that moment. I could see them both smiling after they were done drinking.
There was so much going on in that moment. There was happiness on their faces, but there was definitely an underlying tragedy in the whole thing. And that is also what I have tried to portray in this piece with the mix of colorful and dark bits.
I don't intend to earn from this. But if you are collecting this or even just reading this, I would just ask you to smile wide and be thankful for the life that you are leading.
