Embers 21 by Sneha Chakraborty
India’s First NFT+AR Gallery Exhibition
The women in embers share a common fire in their conflict against being plucked without choice. Rage is the culmination of a train of emotions swirling without tracks in an abyss of one's own rendition of an insignificant existence.
To rise above and escape the abyss, a tremendous transition is required, one that surprises one's own abilities and challenges every shred of identity. Like a chip of timber, taking off from the flaming fire on its own path away, burning to its brightest till it finds ground, or perishes away as ash in thin air. Either way, nothing is the same, for better or worse.
The collection of artworks brought together in the Embers 2021 are all AR Enabled. One can find the AR Filter for each artwork on Instagram at Lbc_Sneha under the AR Filter Tab of her Profile.
The exhibition will be hosted at the Kian Casa Gallery in Pune and will feature 12 Canvas Art pieces as well as 10 NFTs. The Art-Tech experience begins with the first canvas, when guests begin their AR Experience Walkthrough - an immersive interaction with art enabled by the most cutting-edge technologies of the new decade, Augmented Reality.

Visalakshi - The one with a broad eye.
Visalakshi was only 17 when she married into a family of seven, about to be the family's youngest member. They called her 'gudiya,' and every time they came to see her, they brought her gifts. Sweets, clothing, jewellery, and even her favourite scents. Visalakshi believed that wherever they came from, it couldn't have been an awful place. While her friends envied her because they still had exams to pass and masters to answer to, a few couldn't stop fantasising about her wedding with her, all the people who would attend, all the gifts that would pile up, and the 'Shauhar' in whom Visalakshi would find her kind and loving prince.
Visalkshi, an 18-year-old girl, married into a family of seven and found herself become an outsider, both to the family and to herself. First came the violent rape, and then the impenetrable depression. The more she lost control of herself, the more silent she got and the more abusive her surroundings became. If she felt anything in the beginning, she couldn't recall it; all she knew was being numb ever since, to the hate, violence, and relentless humiliation. She had tried to persuade her parents not to let her go back, but when she explained why, she was told there is no such thing as rape between a husband and wife.
Having nobody to talk to and stand by, she birthed one. And then another. Two young girls, her only strength and vulnerability. Violent sexual assault, domestic humiliation, and degradation had become ingrained in her, but if she knew anything now, it was that her daughters would never suffer the same fate. At the age of 25, she was threatened with kerosene to be burned alive along with her daughters if she persisted in asking the family to take the older daughter into a city school. That night, she fled with her children.
That night, Visalakshi transformed into someone her 17-year-old self-had never sensed within her, the deepest uncertainty was her decision over where she stood. That night, she summoned the strength of all her rage and never looked back.
