A few weeks back I went to get some Dhaniya (Colliander) because my mom made me do it. During this whole lockdown, I haven’t even stepped out of my bedroom, going out was not even the 100th thought in my mind. I was out of my house after so long that the fresh air felt really nice. I took a long breath and I regrated it the next second. The smell in those surroundings was so bad that I can’t even express it in words. After looking around I saw a dead dog lying around. I felt bad for him but then I continued walking towards the market I bought some dhaniya and while returning saw two dogs fighting with each other. So that they can mate with female dogs. One of them won and had coitus, but the other one was really injured. I met two very absurd instances in a single day and this had me thinking why do they fight and were dogs taken care of during the pandemic. The research began. I saw some youtube videos, read various articles, and got to know how people are cruel to these lovely stray animals. Not only this they fight among themselves and get injured. That’s when I came up with the “Pawful of charity” collection. This artwork tries to signify how dogs are suffering and what they must be feeling.
