There’s standards for everything nowadays. You are not “manly” enough if you don’t meet certain standards that society has set. Masculinity is destructive and pressuring. Men wear masculinity like they wear a mask. They wear it in order to adapt to today’s norms. According to some, men don’t cry and if they do they can’t handle themselves. In fact they do cry, but under disguise. This piece of art represents the pressure and toxic masculinity that males face in their day to day life. The color red in the background means war whereas the color yellow symbolizes hope and optimism which leads me to this conclusion, red is the war that this person is fighting against society and yellow is what he truly believes in. This creates a dilemma between his beliefs (yellow) and the outside’s beliefs (red).
