Lady with Fan and the Black Cat
Lady with Fan was produced by Austrian artist Gustav Klimt between 1917-1918 and features a woman wearing a floral dress and fan against an embellished background that imitates Japanese woodblock printing.
The colorful birds and vining flowers reflect the artist's characteristically exuberant use of color and embellishment. He had a love for the female form and Japanese art.
As my tribute to this great artist, I recreated painting in a stylized and semi-realistic art style.
A black cat companion has been shown in this digital painting.
Why cat?
In Japan, black cats are upheld as symbols of good luck, especially for single women, as they are revered for attracting fine, potential suitors.
Yellow color symbolizes good fortune and hence the black cat for the young pretty lady.
